The problem

A bereaved family should never hear a voicemail tone. They need a calm voice and to know someone will call them back soon.

Gentle, never salesy

Hello Anytime speaks slowly and kindly, offers condolences and never mentions packages, extras or prices unless the family asks.

Collections and faith needs flagged

Calls about a death at home or a care home, and families whose faith asks for a quick funeral, are marked urgent with an alert to you.

Day and night

Families ring at every hour. Hello Anytime answers the calls you can't, so no one is left with a voicemail.

What Hello Anytime asks your callers

The questions you'd ask, every time.

You can change these in the app. Hello Anytime asks them naturally and never makes up an answer. Other languages are being tested in the pilot.

  • The caller's name and relationship
  • Where their loved one is now, only if they'd like a collection
  • Whether a doctor has been, only if relevant
  • Faith or wishes, only if the caller raises them
  • Best number and time to call
After the call

Keep families informed, gently.

One tap on any call sends a short, kind text in your name, like "Michael is on his way". Replies come straight to you. Scheduled reminders are switching on during the pilot and are only sent if you choose.

Questions from funeral businesses

Straight answers.

More in the main FAQ, or ask the chat.

Will it ever try to sell to a grieving family?

No. It never mentions packages, upgrades or extras. If a family asks about cost, it only gives the prices you've written, or says you'll talk it through.

What does it say if someone has died at home unexpectedly?

If no doctor or paramedic has been yet, it gently tells the family to ring 999 first (or 111 if the death was expected), then takes their details for you.

Can it help families who need a funeral quickly for religious reasons?

Yes. It notes the faith and the urgency, and marks the call urgent so you can call straight back.

Does it use the word AI with bereaved callers?

It says once, gently, that it's your AI assistant and the call is recorded. That honesty is required, and it's done softly.

Do I keep my number?

Yes. Customers keep ringing your usual number. You forward only the calls you miss to a Hello Anytime number we give you, which your customers never need to know.

When does Hello Anytime answer?

Your phone rings first. If you don't pick up within about 20 seconds, the call goes to Hello Anytime. On a mobile the divert code is **61*your Hello Anytime number**20#, and you can change the 20 to 5, 10, 15, 25 or 30 seconds. You can also send every call straight to Hello Anytime, for example at night, and switch it back with a short code.

What about a landline?

Mobiles use one short code. Landlines divert differently depending on your provider, and some (like BT) may charge for it. We'll help you set it up.
